This one is for the stretch of night where you are already in bed and sleep has not shown up yet.
Most sleep advice hands you a task. Relax your shoulders. Slow your breath. Unclench your jaw. But trying is effort, and effort is the opposite of what you need at eleven at night.
So this one asks for nothing. It only describes what your body is already doing while you listen. The mattress taking your weight. The breath going out longer than it came in. The jaw coming apart without being told to.
It runs about three and a half minutes. Put it on repeat.
Heavy and Warm
The bed is taking the weight
The back of your head is heavy
Your shoulders have found the sheet
Nothing is being held up
Heavy and warm
Slow and low
Heavy and warm
Held
The teeth have come apart
The tongue has stopped pressing
The jaw is letting itself down
The eyes are done for the day
Heavy and warm
Slow and low
Heavy and warm
Held
The breath has slowed on its own
No one is driving it
It goes out longer than it came in
It knows how to do this
The room has gone quiet
The dark is soft
Nothing is waiting
You are already going
If you fall asleep before it ends, it worked.
A note on how this is made: I wrote the lyrics, the music and vocal were generated with Suno. The handpan is the only instrument, which is how every Healing Melodies track is built.
